Post Operative Instructions For Implants
- Take medications as instructed
- Place ice pack on side of face where surgery occurred. Keep ice pack ON for 15 minutes then OFF for 15 minutes, Apply ice pack in this manner for the first 24 hours (except for sleep time)
- Beginning the day after surgery, rinse mouth with warm salt water rinses (a glass of warm water with ½ teaspoon of salt). Do this 4-6 times a day for 5 days
- Your diet will consist of soft foods for the next 2 weeks after surgery. Don’t eat on the side of your mouth where you had the surgery (eat on the opposite side)
- Eat food as follows:
- 1st three days:
You may eat VERY SOFT foods like applesauce, cottage cheese, yogurt, soups, mashed potatoes, jello - 4th day through the end of 2nd week
You may eat SOFT foods like tuna, eggs, noodles
- Avoid strenuous exercise for 1 week
